Sept. 22, 2021 – This morning during a surprise assembly, the students and staff of Young Women’s Leadership Academy, an all-girls college preparatory school within San Antonio ISD, learned the campus has been named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School based on its overall academic excellence. This is the second time that the STEM-focused school has earned the distinction – it first earned recognition in 2015.

This year as a 2021 recipient, YWLA is the only school in Bexar County to receive the honor. The campus is among 26 schools throughout Texas and 325 schools in the country to be recognized. See recipient list of Exemplary High Performing Schools from the U.S. Department of Education.

Blue Ribbon Schools is a U.S. Department of Education program, founded in 1982, that recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels. This coveted award affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.
