December 17, 2021
This past November, for the 51st year, the San Antonio Chamber’s Celebrate America’s Military Committee, in partnership with community members and sponsors, continued the tradition of hosting the longest held series of events celebrating our service men and women nationwide. This year’s celebration was a welcome site since last year’s events were held virtually. Hosting more than 30 events spanning three weeks in November, the community was able to highlight the selfless service of our brave men and women currently serving in all branches of our military, their families, veterans, and retirees, as well as the community and business members who support them year-round.

“It was an honor and a privilege to be part of the Chamber’s 51st annual tribute to our military,” said Steve Cochran, USAA’s AVP, Affinity Operations, and the Chamber’s Military Affairs Council Chair. “All of the guests who attended were able to see firsthand why San Antonio is called ‘Military City, U.S.A.’ It was obvious to me that the business community really appreciates the partnership they enjoy with the military community and vice versa, and the Chamber’s efforts are greatly appreciated.”
USAA, Silver Eagle, and Wal-Mart have been proud Title Sponsors of the CAM events for many years, and this year many other sponsors came on board to invest in giving back to our military community who provides so much to us locally, statewide, and nationally.

“I have had the privilege of serving as the Chairman of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s Celebrate America’s Military this year,” said Julie Gudgel, Director, Aligned Education Foundation. “As an airman who served in this great city numerous times, with my last assignment as Command Chief of Air Education and Training Command, it was not surprising to see the community build out many great events for our men and women in uniform. Military City USA prides itself in our deep roots of military support. I can’t wait to see what is yet to come in 2022!” Gudgel will serve as CAM Chair next year, as well, and continue to the great work of championing the events and efforts aimed at honoring our men and women in uniform.
Be sure to visit www.celebrateamericasmilitary.com for information on this year’s events, as well as pictures documenting the celebrations throughout the city. Next year’s CAM planning is already underway, and events will be focused on celebrating the Air Force’s 75th Birthday in a special way, as well as a plethora of other events across the region. If you are interested in hosting an event or sponsoring events throughout the San Antonio community in November of 2022, please email Lori Stinson, Vice President of Military Affairs and Leadership Development, at lstinson@sachamber.org.
