Comedian and actor Kevin Hart (with illustrator Geoff Rodkey) makes his first appearance as an author with Marcus Makes a Movie, the opening of a new series.

Since his mom died, Marcus has been struggling with anger and trying to control his impulsive behavior. His dad is working hard to give them some sense of normalcy, but his work schedule means Marcus has to be in the after-school program. Marcus reluctantly agrees to give the film-making class a try, but it takes a while for him to truly embrace the idea. He'd much rather be drawing comic books featuring his personal superhero creation, Toothpick. When the suggestion is made to turn Toothpick into a movie, Marcus learns how to write (and rewrite and rewrite and rewrite) a screenplay. His vision for a serious superhero movie gets turned on its head as he and his classmates begin filming. The finished product is NOT what he had in mind, but proves to be just what he needed.

The audiobook narration by author Kevin Hart is hilariously energetic and perfectly captures the personalities of Marcus, his classmates, and the adults in his life.
