Sugar Land, TX – Sugar Land’s crime rate for 2021 was the second lowest on record. The results were included in the Sugar Land Police Department’s 2021 Annual Report.

Crimes included in the calculation are homicide, sexual assault, aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, theft, auto theft, and arson.

Sugar Land Police Chief Eric Robins continues to place an emphasis on community partnerships, public education, technology, hiring/training and departmental leadership development. Analysis from the report shows that assaults are up 17 percent, family violence is up 14 percent and aggravated assaults are down 13 percent. UCR Part 1 crime statistics follow:
Priorities during 2022 will include a K-9 program; drills including active violence scenarios; training; employee development; expansion of the license plate recognition program; enhanced reporting systems; technology implementations; and continued planning for the expansion of a public safety training facility.
“Despite the hardships and major changes of this year, the Sugar Land Police Department has maintained excellent service to our residents,” said Robins. “We certainly have a number of challenges ahead, but I’m confident that we can meet those challenges by working together to ensure our city remains the safest in the nation.”
