Katy Man Announces US House Candidacy For New District 22
Angel Luis Vega announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for US Congress in the new District 22 for the 2022 election.

KATY, TX — A Katy man announced his intention to challenge Republican incumbent Troy Nehls and run for Democratic nomination for US Congress in the new District 22 for the 2022 election.
Angel Luis Vega made the announcement in October just before Gov. Greg Abbott approved the newly drawn Texas redistricting map.
The new District 22 drops much of its territory in southwest Houston, which extended to League City, as well as parts of Sugar Land. The district adds territory southwest of Rosenberg, extending all the way to the eastern portion of the Matagorda Bay area. The district now includes El Campo and Bay City.

"There are a lot of people in need, working hard every day, working one, two, even three or more jobs, and they still can't make it," Vega said in a news release. "It's hard, almost impossible to start a family, buy a home, live in a safe place, pay for medications, eat healthy or even eat three meals a day, and I am sick of that. ... I will do my best to help our district to address these necessities and do my part to improve my community's situations."
