Missouri City Election Results 2021: 1 Race Headed For Runoff

Voters in Missouri City cast ballots Tuesday for City Council races and bond propositions. Here are the latest results.

MISSOURI CITY, TX — The race for the District A seat on the Missouri City Council is headed to a runoff.

Missouri City voters cast their ballots Tuesday for City Council races and city bond propositions, including a three-candidate race to replace Councilwoman Cheryl Sterling, who opted not to seek re-election. Monica Riley and Reginald Pearson were the top two finishers in a tight race that separated them by six votes, though neither received a majority. Riley had 591 votes, followed by Pearson with 585 and Bruce Zaborowski with 86.

District B incumbent Jeffrey Boney won re-election for his District B seat by a wide margin over Everett Land.

Two candidates ran for City Council seats unopposed — Anthony Maroulis and Floyd Emery.

  • Bruce Zaborowski: 86 (36 Fort Bend, 50 Harris)
  • Monica Riley: 591 (401 Fort Bend, 190 Harris)

  • Everett Land: 339

Proposition A — The issuance of $51,615,000 general obligation bonds for street, bridge and sidewalk improvements and facilities within the city.

  • For: 4,536 (4,220 Fort Bend, 326 Harris)
  • Against: 1,628 (1,476 Fort Bend, 152 Harris)

Proposition B — The issuance of $11,220,000 general obligation bonds for purchasing, constructing and repairing land, facilities and equipment for public facilities.

  • For: 4,157 (3,871 Fort Bend, 286 Harris)
  • Against: 1,998 (1,808 Fort Bend, 190 Harris)

Proposition C — The issuance of $23,015,000 general obligation bonds for purchasing, constructing and repairing land, facilities and equipment for parks.
