TEDx Sugar Land kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 27.

SUGAR LAND, TX — The biggest brand name in big ideas is coming to Sugar Land on Saturday, Aug. 27. TEDxSugarLand will be a day long event showcasing innovative, powerful, perception-changing ideas.
The 14 speakers will drill down into subjects as varied as using social media sites to predict epidemics, the thought process the Buffalo Bayou redesign, rethinking the future of transportation and how to hack education.
Although the internationally famous TED conference provides overall guidance for the various TEDx programs, each is autonomous and self-organized and focused on celebrating locally-driven ideas.

This year's TEDxSugarLand will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center, 1700 First Colony Blvd., in Sugar Land.
