3 Super Cute Tiny Homes Include 1 From 1931 Sears Kit: How Much House

Location matters with these three tiny homes — one on a historic ranch and two with fantastic access to water in prime vacation areas.

The Grace Penny Tiny House, as the Tumbleweed-manufactutred house is known, sits on the historic Tuolumne County Guinn Ranch, which has one of the oldest stands of black walnut trees in California. It includes a guest cabin, named Mary’s Prayer.

ACROSS AMERICA — For the tiny house crowd, less is more.

The opposite of a “McMansion” — the mass-produced luxury homes that flourished from the 1980s through the early 2000s — tiny houses appeal to minimalists who appreciate their smaller footprints, energy efficiency and lower construction costs.

Tiny doesn’t always mean inexpensive, though. This week in How Much House, we feature little houses with big price tags. The smallest, in California, comes with 80 acres of land. Small homes in Florida and Massachusetts are on lots of less than half an acre in size, but as the saying goes in real estate, it’s all about location.
