Wednesday, May 28, is National Hamburger Day, an unofficial holiday that celebrates America’s favorite sandwich.

The origins of National Hamburger Day are unclear. The National Day Calendar said the origin of the hamburger itself is surrounded in controversy, but that it most likely first appeared in the 19th or early 20th century and has grown in popularity over the years.

Here are some places to score deals:

Bad Daddy’s: The Bacon Cheeseburger on Steroids is discounted to $10 on Wednesday.

Buffalo’s Cafe: A Canyon Burger and Tumbleweed Potato Chips costs $11.99 on Wednesday at participating restaurants (offer good for dine-in and online orders).

Buffalo Wild Wings: On Wednesday, the participating locations are offering any burger at half price, including the All-American Cheeseburger and the Triple Bacon Cheeseburger (offer good for takeout or delivery using the promo code GOBURGER on the app; not valid for dine-in orders).

Burger King: Free hamburger with a $1 purchase for rewards club members on Wednesday.

The Greene Turtle: The buy-one-get-one burger deal is good all day Wednesday.

Happy Joe’s: The Super Max Pizza with ground beef, cheese, onions and other toppings starts at $14.99 on Wednesday.

Hurricane Grill & Wings: On Wednesday, a Steak Burger and Fries costs $9.99 at participating locations (offer good for dine-in and online orders).
Krystal: A slider costs $1 on Wednesday for customers using the app or website with the code KRYSTALDAY.

Logan’s Roadhouse: On Wednesday, the restaurant’s Real Deal Meal — the Original Roadies (a trio of mini burgers) costs $11.99, and the All-American Cheeseburger costs $12.99. Both deals come with a garden or Caesar salad, a side and a soft drink or tea, plus bottomless rolls.

Native Grill & Wings: The My Native Burger costs $8 on Wednesday at participating restaurants (offer good for dine-in and online orders).

Perkins: The chain’s National Hamburger Month special continues through Saturday. The Great American Burger Trio — a cheeseburger, fries and pie— costs $9.99.

Shake Shack: Through Sunday, get a free ShackBurger with a $10 or more purchase (order in the Shack app, online or in-Shack kiosks; use code BURGERMONTH).
