Texas Woman Gets Married and Gives Birth on the Same Day
A Houston woman's baby came earlier than expected -- and so did her wedding.
Here comes the bride -- and the baby.
Stephanie Tallent and Jason Nece went to a regularly scheduled growth ultrasound at the Texas Children’s Pavilion in Houston last week to check on the weight of their baby, then 36 weeks old. During a follow-up exam, doctors found that Stephanie was 5 centimeters dilated.
It was time for a c-section.

The only problem was that the couple had planned to get married before their baby daughter, Sophia, was born. They had just gotten their marriage license a day earlier.
So, the hospital staff pulled together an impromptu wedding. The hospital chaplain was called. A nurse gave Stephanie a necklace for something borrowed. She had a blue ribbon for something blue. Her doctor, Dr. Karla Wagner, gave her some roses she had just bought.

“We were trying to piece together a dress for me, with some white sheets. And then I remembered that I just happened to have a white dress in my car that I was taking to the dry cleaners,” the bride said in an interview with hospital officials, which was shared with Patch.com.
“One of the nurses that worked in the office, she came and sang, had a beautiful voice,” Stephanie said.
“Yeah, it was quite a ceremony to pull together in 30 minutes -- in a clinic.”
After the ceremony, the staff put a sign that said “Just Married” on the back of her wheelchair and wheeled her into the delivery room.
“Dr. Wagner walked me down the aisle and then a couple hours later delivered Sophia.”
“We cannot be any happier than we are right now. To have her now and to see her and just to think when I woke up this morning, I never thought that I would be getting married and having a baby today,” Stephanie said.
Her husband Jason summed it up this way: “Spectacular day. Best ever ever. Absolutely amazing.”
