Suspect Tried To Take Taser From Officer As He Fought With 3 Cops: Police
A 22-year-old man who police say assaulted three officers and tried to take a Taser from one of them is in the Fairfax County lockup.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 22-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including three counts of assault on law enforcement officers, in connection with a robbery at a Fairfax City pharmacy on Friday evening, according to authorities.
City of Fairfax Police officers responded around 5:28 p.m. to the CVS at 10090 Fairfax Blvd. for the report of a robbery in progress. The officers determined that a man had assaulted an employee, destroyed the employee’s property and left the store with items he had stolen, according to the incident report.
The officers located the suspect nearby. However, as they attempted to arrest him, he assaulted three officers and tried to grab an officer’s Taser, according to police.

Police identified the suspect as Ariel Figueroa of an undetermined address. After he was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital, police took Figueroa to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to police.
The officers involved in the arrest received minor injuries during the scuffle. They reported that Figueroa had provided false identification and that he was under the influence of alcohol. The victim declined to press charges for the assault, police say.

In addition to the three counts of assault on a law officer, Figueroa was charged with robbery: using force, disarming a law enforcement officer, destruction of property, disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice, providing false identifying information to law enforcement and being drunk in public. He was then held without bond.
Figueroa was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday morning in Fairfax County General District Court, according to court records. He has a preliminary hearing set for 2 p.m. on July 29.
The three assault on law officer and the disarming a law enforcement officer charge are class 6 felonies and each carry a potential penalty of one to five years in prison or, at the judge’s discretion, up to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia.
