Sexual Assault, Abduction With Intent To Defile Charges Levied Against VA Man
Forensic evidence helped City of Fairfax Police identify a man they say attempted to abduct and sexually assault a woman last July.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 45-year-old Alexandria man is facing multiple charges in connection to an abduction and assault that occurred last July near the Fairfax Museum, according to authorities
Just before 4:30 p.m. on July 3, an abduction was reported at the Fairfax Museum, 10209 Main St. Witnesses told officers they saw a man carrying an unconscious woman into the nearby woods. When the man was confronted, he ran off, according to the police incident report.
Officers searched the area, but the suspect was not found. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to police.

The victim, who did not know the suspect, told investigators the man had assaulted her, police say.
Forensic evidence was collected and sent to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science to be analyzed.

The results of the testing identified Oscar Briones Amaya of Alexandra as the suspect in the case.
Police arrested Briones Amaya on Thursday, charging him with abduction with the intent to defile and aggravated sexual battery, according to police.
He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held without bond.
