Mason Men's Basketball To Face St. Joseph's In Atlantic 10 Tournament

FAIRFAX, VA — George Mason University's men's basketball team will be playing St. Joseph's at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday morning in the second round of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Men's Championship.

The Patriots finished the 2023-24 season with an 20-11 record. The team was 9-9 in conference play and ranked ranked seventh in the A10 standings. This was enough to earn the Patriots an eighth seed and a bye in the first round.

This was Tony Skinn's first season as the Patriots' head couch. From 2003-2006, he played guard for Mason and was member of the team that went all the way to the Final Four in 2006.

Mason's victory over the Spiders on Saturday put Richmond in a tie for first place with Loyola of Chicago. They both ended the regular season 15-3 in conference play with an overall record of 23-8.

Richmond and Loyola are the top two seeds in the 2024 A1 Tournament. The will play their first games in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Although SJU defeated the Patriots 75-73 at Eagle Bank Arena on Jan. 29, the Hawks finished the season with the same 9-9 record as GMU, making them a ninth seed.

ESPN+ will be airing the first round of the tournament and the USA Network will broadcast the second round and quarterfinals. CBSSN will be showing the two semifinal games on Saturday, with CBS TV airing Sunday's championship game at 1 p.m.

The Patriots and Hawks square off 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn.
