Phony IRS Scam Targets Fairfax City Resident: Police
Most recent crime bulletin from Fairfax City Police also shows tools were stolen from resident's backyard shed.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA -- Here's a look at the most recent crime in the City, from the police crime bulletin:
False Pretenses 16-08846: 4000 Block of Trapp Road – On May 25 at 12:30 PM the victim reported that he had received a telephone call from a male subject with a foreign accent claiming to be from the IRS and directing him to pay the money he owed the IRS by obtaining a money card and providing the numbers, and not to hang up the phone until he did so. The victim complied, and then called police.
Larceny 16-08902: 3600 Block of Jean Street – On May 26 at 10:07 AM the property owner reported that sometime after May 14 unknown person(s) had stolen tools from his unsecured shed in the backyard of the residence.

Identity Theft 16-08925: 4100 Block of Addison Road – On May 26 at 3:28 PM the resident reported that sometime after May 3 unknown person(s) had used her identifying information to open an unauthorized account with a communications company.
DUI Arrest 16-08968: 11000 Block of Fairfax Boulevard – On May 27 at 3:16 AM an officer responding to a report of a male subject asleep in a running vehicle in the traffic lanes determined that the driver was intoxicated. Jose A. Garcia Herrera, 34, of 7014 Kipling Parkway, District Heights, Maryland, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and his bond was set at $1000.
