Photo of the Day: Optimists and Police Protect Kids With SafeAssured ID Kits
Volunteers from the Optimists Club of Central Fairfax teamed up with local police to help make SafeAssured ID kits for kids.

On Saturday, the City of Fairfax Police Department and volunteers from the Optimists Club of Central Fairfax teamed up to help protect kids, and assist parents in the case of a missing child.
Volunteers prepared SafeAssured ID kits for families who signed up, which provide parents with a secure digital CD that includes photos, fingerprints, height and weight measurements, and even a short video showing kids' mannerisms and talking voice.
Interestingly, after completing the digital CD, all information is wiped clean from the system - so that only parents are the ones to keep the vital information on their child, for added safety and privacy.
In the case of a missing child, parents can bring the CDs straight to their law enforcement agency to assist in searching for the child and making missing child alerts or posters.
For more information, call the Optimists of Central Fairfax at 703-591-4828 or contact Sgt. Kyle Penman of the City of Fairfax Police Department at 703-273-2889.
