PVI Girls Win State Championship for 5th Straight Year

Huskies fight back in second half to force overtime.

Paul VI Catholic High School and Flint Hill had faced each other in the state championship before. Just last year PVI's girls basketball team won against Flint Hill in a high-scoring 80-74 final.

This year, Paul VI bested Flint Hill again 48-41, giving the Panthers their 12th state title and fifth in a row.

The Huskies did not go down without a fight. Down 28-21 heading into halftime, the team regrouped for the second half to tie the game at 33 points in the third quarter. Both teams then scored six points in the fourth, and the game stretched into overtime.
