Narcotics Charge Levied After VA Man Loses Consciousness During A Test Drive

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 31-year-old employee at a business in the Pickett Shopping Center is facing a narcotics charge after he passed out while testing a vehicle midday on Saturday, according to the City of Fairfax Police.

Officers responded to a business at 9424 Main St. for the report of an unresponsive man in a vehicle. When they arrived, the officers found the man to be awake and alert, according to police.

“The investigation revealed that the subject works at a local business, was test driving a customer's vehicle, deliberately ingested narcotics, and passed out as a result,” according to the incident report. “Further investigation revealed that the subject had narcotics in his possession.”

The officers arrested 31-year-old Nelson Lopez-Perez of Woodbridge and took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with possession of schedule I/II narcotics. He was later released on an unsecured bond.

Lopez-Perez is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday morning in Fairfax County General District Court and has a preliminary hearing set for Aug. 19, according to court records.

The possession of schedule 1/11 narcotics charge is considered a Class 5 felony, which carries a sentence of one to 10 years in prison or up to 12 months in jail, and a fine of up to $2,500, according to the Code of Virginia.
