CAN the Bird 5K Turkey Trot Coming To Kingstowne On Thanksgiving Day

Early bird registration for the 2nd annual CAN the Bird 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day at Kingstowne Center ends on Saturday, Nov. 12.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — The Mount Vernon Lee Chamber of Commerce is hosting its second annual CAN the Bird 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day at Kingstowne Center, where runners and spectators are invited to bring canned goods for local food banks.

The race begins at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24. The start and finish line for the race will be in the Walmart parking lot at 5885 Kingstowne Blvd. in Alexandria. The race organizers will serve Thanksgiving pie at the finish line.

At the Thursday, Nov. 24 race, medals will be awarded for first, second and third places for overall men and women runners, plus best runner with a dog and best runner with a stroller. First, second and third place medals will also be awarded for 12 years and under, 13 to 18 years, and master runners 50 years and older.

Runners who register for the race by Saturday, Nov. 12 will get an early bird rate: $30 for adults; $25 for military; $20 for 25 and under; and $10 for 12 and under.

Online registration for the CAN the Bird 5K Turkey Trot will close on Monday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. Late registration will still be available during packet pick up.

Packet pickup will take place at the Springfield Potomac River Running store at 7289 Commerce St. in Springfield on Tuesday, Nov. 22 and Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and at the race site on Thursday, Nov. 24 starting at 7 a.m.
