Fairfax County HOA Donates Hundreds of Items to Local Causes
Kingstowne Residential Supports Animal Shelter and Koinonia With Annual Drive
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va., Dec. 18, 2024 — Residents of Kingstowne Residential, one of the largest HOA communities in Virginia, donated hundreds of items to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter and The Koinonia Foundation, Inc. as part of Kingstowne’s annual Kingstowne Kindness drive. Kingstowne holds the Kingstowne Kindness donation drive every year to help residents to do good in Fairfax.
Kingstowne Residential (KROC) picks a different charity every year to spread the goodwill of residents to different types of causes. This year KROC selected Fairfax County Animal Shelter as the primary beneficiary of Kingstowne Kindness because Kingstowne had already featured the shelter’s programs for pets-in-need in the association’s magazine. From Nov. 1 to Dec. 2, residents were encouraged to bring pet supplies and linens to the collection box. KROC collected enough supplies to fill three pickups and an SUV. “Kingstowne residents really turned out this year,” said Nancy Vasser, KROC’s finance administrator. “The animals at the shelter will be blessed with the donations." Kingstowne also collected a large gift from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which needed help redistributing extra supplies due to overflowing storage. Kingstowne staff believe that this was one of their most successful charitable drives to date.
KROC also hosted a benefit for Koinonia on Dec. 14. Koinonia is a Fairfax County charity that helps people with clothing, food, and emergency services. KROC asked residents to bring clothes and blankets to Kingstowne’s Winter Wonderland event, a holiday celebration held for residents. “Kingstowne residents showed their community and holiday spirit with an abundance of winter clothing donations benefiting Koinonia,” said Mackenzie Morton, KROC recreation director. Kingstowne collected several large storage boxes worth of winter clothes. Morton further explained, “While the donation drive was only officially open for one day, residents began dropping off items weeks in advance. Their thoughtfulness and compassion in providing much-needed cold weather items surely speaks to ‘Kingstowne Kindness.’”
