SPRINGFIELD, VA — Springfield Town Center is holding a back-to-school event on Saturday, Aug. 12, with family-friendly activities and entertainment.
The Fuel for School event will take place on Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Springfield Town Center’s Grand Court. The activities will include notebook decorating, face painting, balloon twister, and a selfie station.
Attendees are also invited to combat food insecurity for children and families by making a monetary or food donation to Springfield Town Center’s community partner, Capital Area Food Bank. Millions of families in the U.S. struggle to access nutritious food, and most affected are children, according to PREIT, the real estate investment trust that owns Springfield Town Center.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming back the school year as the summer season starts to wind down, and what better way to celebrate than with the collaboration of our local partners,” Lisa Pellicciotta, vice president of marketing at PREIT, said in a statement.
