Hayfield Alum One Of 300 Chosen For International Scholarship
A college student who attended Hayfield Secondary School is one of 300 recipients of a scholarship given to students in three countries.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An Alexandria student is the recipient of a scholarship from Foresters Financial, a financial institution offering life insurance.
Emilie (Brynn) Dajc, who attended Hayfield Secondary School and uses they/them pronouns, was chosen for a $2,000 scholarship due to their academic achievement and volunteer work with Girl Scouts. Dajc is attending Virginia Wesleyan University in the fall. They can reapply for the scholarship for up to four years of study.
"We are proud to recognize Emilie for [their] contributions to [their] local community and for exemplifying the core principles and values engrained in the Foresters culture," said Foresters Financial President and CEO Louis Gagnon.

Foresters Financial offers competitive academic scholarships each year to 300 students in the U.S., Canada and the UK. Since 2012, the financial institution has awarded over 6,500 tuition scholarships totaling over $21.5 million. This year's recipients of $500,000 in scholarships include 138 from the U.S. and 112 from Canada.
Students awarded scholarships must demonstrate excellence in academics and leadership in charitable activities in their communities. The scholarships can be awarded up to four years for students attending undergraduate studies at two-year or four-year accredited colleges, universities or vocational/technical schools.
