Modell's Moves Into Springfield Commons

Modell's Sporting Goods opened its doors at 6701 Frontier Drive in the old storefront on July 7, three days after closing its location in the Springfield Mall. 

With additional locations in Reston, Manassas and Fairfax, the retailer sells sporting goods, athletic apparel and sports fan gear. As a new store in the Springfield Commons, Modell's joins Old Navy, Staples, TGI Fridays and several more retailers. 

Before moving from the Springfield Mall which closed for , General Manager Jeff Hawley said, "It was quiet during the last days because [Modell's] was the only store left in the mall." 

Hawley also said that the store hired 15 new employees after the move and is now fully staffed. 

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
