- The Lynchburg Fire Department has teamed up with the American Cancer Society for their annual 'Relay for Life' campaign. Firefighters will hit the streets now through May 13 to collect donations in bright purple buckets at major intersections throughout the city. All proceeds will go towards the American Cancer Society to help fund research for a cure. (WFXRtv.com)
- Jeriwon Lee Taylor, a Salem man, pleaded guilty to drug and firearm-related charges this week in connection to a November 2021 shootout during a methamphetamine deal in Lynchburg. Taylor has pleaded guilty to distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possessing a firearm in connection to the drug trafficking crime. Authorities praised the collaborative efforts of local, state, and federal agencies in bringing charges against those responsible for drug trafficking, firearm violations, and other acts of violence that threaten public safety. - In case you missed it: Temporary lane closures will occur on Langhorne Road through May 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The lane closures will allow Shentel crews to perform aerial, trenching, and directional drilling work for line installations, according to the Department of Public Works. (WSET)
