  1. Applications for the Lynchburg City Council are now open. Lynchburg City Council is seeking school board members ahead of its yearly appointment process, scheduled to begin on May 9. This year, the school board appointment process is set to take place in an open session instead of closed sessions. (Lynchburg News and Advance)
  2. A stabbing that occurred at Dearing Street late Thursday morning is under investigation. Police say two men got into a fight when one of them was stabbed. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but no charges have been placed yet. (WSET)
  3. City and faith leaders gathered at Hill City on Thursday morning to mourn a child victim of gun violence. The event, which also recognized National Day of Prayer, was followed by a ceremony organized by Mayor Stephanie Reed, Commonwealth's Attorney Bethany Harrison, Ward II City Councilor Sterling Wilder, Rev. Owen Cardwell, and Finny Matthew from the Lighthouse Community Center. (Lynchburg News and Advance)

  • Heads up, motorists: The lane closure on the southbound portion of John Lynch Bridge will continue through May 12 while repairs are made to the bridge expansion joint. (WSET)
  • As a reminder, The Lynchburg International Festival is this Saturday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Riverfront Park. The event will offer a Parade of Nations, international foods, music, dances, displays, and more. (WSLS 10)
  • Delta Star Inc. is expanding its operations in Lynchburg! Located at 3550 Mayflower Dr., the expansion will bring 80,000 square feet of additional space for the mobile transformers manufacturer. (WSET)
