🌱 Lynchburg Man Sentenced For 2020 Murder + Mayor Statue Construction

  1. A Lynchburg man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the 2020 murder of Carlos Levell Rose. Keyante Ke'Shaeun Robinson, 22, was one of two gunmen involved in the death. Robinson's charges include abduction, arson, concealing or altering a corpse, and use of a firearm in a felony. The murder allegedly stems from a dispute over a romantic relationship involving Rose.   2. An early-morning crash killed 56-year-old William Davis Canfield of Forest last Friday. According to Virginia State Police, Canfield suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel while traveling north on Perrowville Road. The crash is currently under police investigation. (WSET)
  3. Construction of a statue honoring Lynchburg's first African American Mayor is officially underway. Mayor M.W. "Teedy" Thornhill was elected mayor of Lynchburg in 1990 after a career as the Ward II representative of Lynchburg City Council. Construction of the statue is expected to begin this week at the roundabout located at Fifth and Federal Streets. The assembly of this statue may cause minor traffic delays, and motorists should be alert of signs and work zones. (WSET)
