  1. In Hill City, a new curfew has gone into effect. With a few exceptions, children under the age of 18 will not be permitted to be out and about overnight from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. This comes after three children being shot and killed in the city since the beginning of the year. All three gunshots happened within a few blocks of each other. The new ordinance is in place to reduce crime in the city. (WSET)
  2. On Friday, a car slammed into a telephone pole and subsequently into a building, closing down a section of Main Street between Commerce Street and the Expressway junction. The building hit was the Diamond Hill Animal Hospital. This is the second time a car has crashed into a business in less than two weeks. On May 12, a vehicle smashed into Myers & Rhodes Equipment just down the road. (WSET)
  3. Tawny Desirae Larlee, 30, of nearby Evington, was arrested and charged with the possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance with intent to distribute on May 25. According to the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, Larlee is facing a drug charge after discovering 50 fentanyl packets and cash during a traffic stop. According to deputies, the stop occurred in the 7300 block of Wards Road. Officers searched the vehicle with the assistance of the K-9 unit and seized 50 packets of fentanyl and $1,653 in cash. She is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond. (WFXRtv.com)

  • Free fishing days in Virginia are scheduled for Jun. 2-4. On these days, no fishing license is necessary for freshwater or saltwater rod and reel fishing.
