2. Library's temporary Youth Services Hub opens to continue serving Lynchburg community (wset.com) — If you rely on Lynchburg Public Library for your kids, youth services have officially moved to a new temporary hub on the ground floor of the Miller Center at 301 Grove Street. Prospective pastor fights Virginia tuition aid ban for religious degrees at Fourth Circuit (courthousenews.com) — A Liberty University student in Lynchburg is challenging Virginia’s ban on using state tuition grants for vocational ministry degrees, arguing it violates her religious freedom. Her case, heard at the Fourth Circuit, could eventually reach the Supreme Court and may shape how future Lynchburg students pursuing ministry-related majors can use state financial aid.
   

4. Sweet Briar College seeks state grant to enhance workforce development (newsadvance.com) — Sweet Briar College is pursuing a GO Virginia Region 2 grant aimed at boosting technical workforce development across the Lynchburg region, potentially benefiting local employers and jobseekers. The proposal focuses on expanding training capacity and aligning programs with in-demand skills, positioning the greater Lynchburg area for stronger economic growth if funding is approved.
   

5. City schools name Brendon Albon as new chief academic officer (fredericksburgfreepress.com) — A veteran educator with deep ties to Lynchburg, including work for Lynchburg City Schools and a doctorate from the University of Lynchburg, has been named chief academic officer for Fredericksburg City Public Schools. Brendon Albon, formerly a Virginia Department of Education assistant superintendent, will now oversee academic programs in Fredericksburg while drawing on experience that began as a math teacher in Lynchburg.
