Fire Shuts Down Manassas Chick-Fil-A On Wednesday Morning

MANASSAS, VA — A fire broke out at a Manassas Chick-Fil-A on Wednesday morning, the Prince William County fire department said.

No injuries were reported in the blaze. On Facebook, the restaurant said it will be closed until further notice.

The fire began around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Investigators believe restaurant employees turned on a space heater in a trash room when they arrived for their shift. They did not realize there were flammable materials near the heater.

When first responders arrived, they reported heavy fire showing from the rear of the restaurant. The structure sustained moderate damage before crews could extinguish the blaze.

Frigid temperatures rolled into our region this week, with single-digit lows in Prince William County on Wednesday morning. Though space heaters can be helpful, experts urge people to be cautious.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission notes that there are more than 1,000 space heater fires in homes every year. To keep families safe, residents should ensure there is nothing flammable within 3 feet of a space heater. Space heaters should also be plugged directly into outlets, not into an extension cord or power strip.
