Person With Medical Emergency Dies After Arrest By Manassas Police

Manassas Police say an arrested person had a medical emergency after they took him to the jail.

MANASSAS, VA — A person arrested by Manassas Police died in custody after experiencing a medical emergency on Thanksgiving, according to the police department.

Around 5:24 p.m. last Thursday, police had responded to Petco at 10055 Wellington Road for a report of an intoxicated person. Police found the person was conscious but had an arrest warrant. The person was arrested and taken to the Prince William County Adult Detention Center in Manassas. The medical emergency happened upon Manassas Police arrival to the jail.

Rescue personnel responded and took the person to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Police did not disclose the identity of the person or what they were arrested for. Identification is pending next-of-kin notification.
