Fairfax County Police Make Arrest In Boy's Fatal Shooting

Police said the shooting happened on Oct. 15 in the 13000 block of Parcher Avenue.

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County police have made an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting of a boy on Wednesday night in the Hutchinson neighborhood, according to authorities.

In an update shared Saturday, police said a juvenile male was responsible for the Oct. 15 shooting. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and weapons charges, police said.

On the day of the shooting, officers responded to the 13000 block of Parcher Avenue between the town of Herndon and the Dulles Toll Road around 9:30 a.m. after receiving a report about a suspicious person.

According to police, the caller reported that an unconscious man was lying on the ground, possibly injured or asleep.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive juvenile male victim with a gunshot wound to his lower body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the shooting did not appear to be a random act.

The boy charged in the shooting was taken to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center, where he was held on a detention order.
