Abduction With Intent To Defile Child Charge Filed Against NoVA Man

An 80-year-old man was arrested for inappropriately touching a child Monday morning in a Virginia neighborhood, police say.

HERNDON, VA — An 80-year-old Herndon man faces multiple charges after he tried to touch a child inappropriately Monday morning in the Hutchison neighborhood, according to Fairfax County police.

The victim told detectives from the Reston District Station that she was walking near the 13300 block of Hungerford Place about 8:40 a.m. when a man grabbed and then tried to touch her inappropriately. Once the victim was able to free herself, the man ran away, according to the incident report.

Patrol officers and detectives searched the area and identified Ramon Herrera of Herndon as a suspect in the case, according to police.

Herrera was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with abduction with intent to defile and penetration of the mouth of a child with lascivious intent, according to FCPD. He was held without bond.

Herrera was arraigned in Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Wednesday, and a preliminary hearing was set for Aug. 22.

The penetration of the mouth of a child with lascivious intent charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500. The abduction with intent to defile charge is a Class 2 felony and carries a potential sentence of 20 years to life and a possible fine of up to $100,000, according to Virginia law.
