RESTON, VA — Baby, the 15-year-old Yorkie who had been missing from her Reston home since Nov. 1, died late Thursday afternoon in the creek between the 13th and 14th holes at the Reston National Golf Course, according to an email from Baby's owner Cathy Dain.

"We were blessed to have so many people looking for her and that she was found so we could bring her home," Dain said, in the email.

Dain and her husband Bob raised Baby since she was a puppy at their home on Weybridge Lane in Reston.

Bob Dain had let Baby out into the yard around 11 a.m. on Nov. 1. The couple was having work done on their deck and apparently one of the workers had left the gate open and Baby got out.

A short time later, someone reported seeing Baby near the 14th hole of the golf course.

In the subsequent days, the Dains and their friends stuck posters up around Reston and posted notices on social media, asking their neighbors to snap a photo of Baby if someone saw her. The couple even hired someone to track Baby's location with a scent dog.
