South Lakes High School Theatre Arts Stages 'Big Fish' Musical

RESTON, VA — This May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, prepare to be transported to a world where stories blend with reality, as South Lakes High School Theatre Arts presents "Big Fish," a musical. Under the guidance of Mr. Michael Viola, the talented cast and crew are thrilled to bring to life this story about life, love, and legacy.

"Big Fish" centers on Edward Bloom, a man whose life is as vivid and sprawling as the tales he tells. His son, Will, finds Edward’s stories too unbelievable and goes in search of the truth behind his father's fantastical stories. It's a heartfelt exploration of family, truth, and the stories that shape us, told with a mix of humor, warmth, and whimsy.

South Lakes' production brings Edward's imaginative world to the stage with creative set designs, enchanting music by Andrew Lippa, and performances that capture the essence of storytelling. This musical, based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the book and Columbia Motion Picture by John August, showcases the talent and passion of our cast and crew, many of whom contributed to our program's 2023 accolades, 10 Cappies awards and 2 Brandon Victor Dixon awards, including Best Musical at both awards shows.
