RESTON, VA — For its fall production, South Lakes High School Theatre Arts will be presenting the Northern Virginia premiere of the play "A Monster Calls."

"When Conor, a 13-year-old, is navigating a storm of emotions due to bullying, isolation, and grief, he encounters a mysterious yew tree, brought to life from the stories his mother once shared," according to Through a series of stories, the Monster guides Conor toward understanding, acceptance, and healing," according to Grace Gibbens, of the South Lakes Theatre Arts Student PR Team.

To stage this production, the performers have devised theatre techniques, original choreography, striking special effects to create a deeply immersive experience that brings this story to life, according to Gibbens.

Due to the mature themes addressed, including illness, grief, and loss, this play is recommended for audiences aged 13+.

"A Monster Calls" will be performed at 2 p.m., on Nov. 14, 15, 21, and 22, and 7:30 p.m., on Nov. 15 and 22, in the South Lakes High School Theatre, which is located at 11400 South Lakes Drive in Reston. Tickets can be purchased online or by using the QR code below.
