5 Things: Trivia Fun, Edible Books, Grasshopper Cottage for Kids, the Butler Spills It and Music for the Ages

Stop by the Alley Cat Bar and Grill for its Tuesday night special – ½-priced Angus burgers plus trivia night. In the West End, 2 S. Whiting St., open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Bring an edible representation of your favorite book to Beatley Library, 5005 Duke St. Vote for your favorite creation. Prizes will be awarded. Call Tina 703-746-1768 for more information. Drop off from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., voting 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. The awards ceremony will be held 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Swing by the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage. It offers free performances 365 days a year. Tuesday evening at 6 p.m., catch the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra. The group brings together musicians of different ages and abilities to promote mutual growth and understanding through musical performance.

The butler did it and the reporter wrote it. Listen to the story of Eugene Allen who worked as a White House butler for 34 years as told by reporter Wil Haygood in his book “The Butler: A Witness to History.” Haygood will discuss his book at Politics and Prose, 5015 Connecticut Ave., NW in Washington. Beer and wine available. 7 p.m.
