Eisenhower Avenue: What's In Store?

Alexandria's Eisenhower Avenue has big changes in store.

The National Science Foundation plans to move into a brand new building in the Hoffman Town Center complex across the street from the Eisenhower Avenue Metro station and just west of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The City of Alexandria projects that the NSF will support more than 1,800 additional permanent jobs beyond its own workforce of 2,400 along with 800 temporary jobs to construct the new facility - a 4.5 percent increase in Alexandria's total workforce.

Today, there is a smattering of cafes and restaurants across from the PTO on Eisenhower Avenue. "For Lease" signs dot the landscape. The lines at Whole Foods market are 20 people deep at lunchtime.

What would you like to see on this stretch of the avenue? Another grocery store or new shops?

What do you think would bring vibrancy to the area after 5 p.m.?
