There's a wide variety of events and opportunities this week. West End Alexandria Patch has rounded up some highlights to expand your mind, enjoy your neighborhood but most of all, have fun.
Find common ground. Join the Interfaith Book Club at Beatley Central Library, which meets from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday. The group reads nonfiction works that strive to find common ground through recognizing and celebrating common values. Meets in the small conference room.
Tag along with the Waterfront Commission as it takes a DC waterfront boat tour on Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The group plans to set sail from the City Marina at the foot of Cameron Street. Free and anyone may attend.

Get back to nature right in your own backyard. Walk or take a bike ride through Dora Kelley Nature Park, a 50-acre wildlife sanctuary that meanders along streams, wooded hills and freshwater marshland. A paved bike trail connecting Sanger Avenue and Van Dorn Street winds through the park, which is ADA accessible. The park is located behind the nature center at 5750 Sanger Ave. in the West End of Alexandria.
Gordon Biersch continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary by offering its house beers for $2.50 every Tuesday through August. The brew pub chain has two locations in Washington, DC (900 F St., NW and 100 M St., SE), a pub in Tysons Corner in McLean (7861 Tysons Corner Center) and another location in Annapolis.

Make Gyotaku fish prints! How did Japanese fishermen record their catches? They rolled ink or paint onto them and pressed them against a piece of paper to make a print.
