ALEXANDRIA, VA — Scouting for Food, a food drive to aid local food banks, will be held for the 34th year by the Boy Scouts of America's Colonial District.

The Colonial District, which includes Alexandria as well as the Lorton and Mount Vernon areas, will collect donations for the food drive on Saturday, Nov. 12. The program is held annually before Thanksgiving to stock shelves of local food pantries for the holiday months when demands are higher.

Residents can leave bagged donations on their doorsteps for the food drive by 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 12. Youth with the Boy Scouts will collect donations the morning of Nov. 12.
