Alexandria is always full of a variety of events and activities to suit a wide variety of tastes. Today is no exception with a science talk, beading and poker just a few of the items on tap for Tuesday.
Super Summer Foods Smoothie Class at Holistic Touch, 309 S. Washington St. in Old Town. Learn how to make and enjoy smoothies and how to incorporate them as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. There is a $20 fee and the class begins at 6 p.m.
Author and scientist Lou Massa will discuss his book “Science and the Written Word,” a work aiming to provide an understanding of science and its relation to society. Massa will be at the Beatley Central Library, 5005 Duke St., at 7 p.m. in the large meeting room.

Join jewelry-making classes at the Potomac Bead Company, 1104 King St. in Old Town. The bead shop offers classes from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for a fee ranging from $18 to $25. Call 703-299-8730 for more information.
"Chasing Ice" film screening at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House, 323 S. Fairfax St. in Old Town. Free, at 6:30 p.m. The climate change documentary follows the story of a photographer struggling to document the melting of glaciers before they're gone. Hosted by the Chesapeake Climate Change Action Network.

It’s World Tavern Poker Night at the Fish Market, 105 King St. The restaurants hosts the event every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Call 703-836-5676.
