Pop-up Paella, Silver City Bluegrass, Tap Into Honey 21 and Chocoholics Rejoice
Highlights of what's going on around the West End and beyond on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Local mixologist Todd Thrasher dons a chef’s hat Wednesday to showcase his cooking skills in Society Fair’s demonstration kitchen. He’ll prepare paella paired with Spanish wines starting at 7:30 p.m. Reservations are $100 with some proceeds going to charity Fit for Hope. Society Fair is located at 277 S. Washington St. in Old Town Alexandria.
Enjoy a noon concert by Silver City featuring country and bluegrass at the Canal Center Plaza, 44 Canal Center in Alexandria on Wednesday. For more information, call the city’s Special Events Hotline at 703-746-5592.
Caring for an elderly friend or relative? Join the Caregiver Support Group at the Alexandria Adult Day Services Center located at 1108 Jefferson St. It meets monthly to provide care giving strategies, support and resources. 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Happy 21st anniversary Capital City Brewing Company. Join the brew pub as it taps into Honey 21, a new wheat beer brewed with honey, orange peels and coriander. Happy hour is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. when you’ll be able to get a pint for $3.50 pint and $5 appetizers. The celebration on runs 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The pub is located at 1100 New York Ave., NW, Washington, DC.
The Washington area’s own Willy Wonka factory. Max Brenner Chocolate Bar, which really serves all things chocolate, opened in Bethesda Row July 31. Think waffles, hot chocolate, coffees, crepes and fondue. The Israel-based chain also has restaurants in New York and Philadelphia. The Bethesda, Md., location is at 7263 Woodmont Ave.
