If you celebrate a little too much on the Fourth of July, don't worry — you can take advantage of a program that offers free cab rides in the Washington metro area.
That program, called SoberRide, is offered by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program, a group of business sponsors and local cab companies. The group has provided more than 57,990 safe rides home since 1993 over the December/January holidays, St. Patrick's Day, the Fourth of July and Halloween.
Here's how it works:
- You must be 21 years or older to use the service.
- The service will be offered starting on the Fourth of July, from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. the next morning.
- The free cab ride cannot exceed a $30 value.
- You must call (800) 200-8294 (TAXI) for a free SoberRide
- AT&T customers can call #WRAP from their wireless phones.

- Red Top Cab Company (Arlington County)
- Alexandria Yellow Cab (Alexandria)
