Stabbing on Opening Night of Carnival at Landmark Mall: Reports

Police say that they have the suspect in custody after a stabbing at the opening night of the annual carnival held at Landmark Mall.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Someone was stabbed Friday night on the opening day of the annual carnival held at Landmark Mall in Alexandria, according to several reports.

The victim has a non-life threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital, according to police.

The suspect, who knew the victim, is in custody, police said.

Fairfax County Police Department also responded to the area, with officers and their helicopter. due to the size of the crowd, Alexandria Police said.

The carnival, an annual event, is scheduled to continue through April 17, according to the Landmark Mall Web site.
