Care Center Seeks Men's and Women's Prom Attire for Clients

St. Ann Center needs donations of new or gently used dressy clothing, in all sizes, to give our adult clients the prom they never had.

Proms are usually for the young; but an innovative Milwaukee care agency is planning a prom for its day clients: frail elders, people with dementia and adults with disabilities, many of whom never got the chance to go to a school prom.

High school prom is a ritual that many adults, especially those with disabilities, missed out on. So the staff at St. Ann Center's Bucyrus Campus is planning a prom for later this summer. It will conclude a week of celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the opening of the campus.

Many of the frail elders, people with dementia and adults with disabilities who attend our program live below the poverty line and are unable to afford luxuries like prom attire. So we're asking community members to donate any new or gently used dressy attire, in all sizes, for men and women. It's a great opportunity to clear out space in a closet and make people smile.

Think: Classic tuxedos. Elegant suits and dress shirts. Gorgeous prom dresses, short or long (sparkle is a bonus!) or bridesmaids dresses or even mother of the bride/groom dresses. Items that deserve another outing!

They needn't be the height of fashion from this season...or even 10 seasons ago, as long as they're gently used.

It's an opportunity to clear out closets and warm your heart as well.
