• Milwaukee County highlights opioid settlement funding amid federal cuts (fox6now.com) — Milwaukee County is deploying $111 million in opioid settlement funds, with $34 million already committed, to keep treatment, prevention, and recovery services running as federal behavioral health dollars become less certain. Local leaders and advocates say the money is a lifeline, backing projects from harm-reduction vending machines and housing supports to outreach for older adults and people with disabilities. These investments aim to reach underserved neighborhoods and save lives across the county.
   

• Uber driver in Milwaukee says passenger chased by man with a gun (wisn.com) — A Milwaukee Uber driver says a passenger jumped into her car near 37th and Garfield while fleeing a man she believed was armed, an encounter captured on dashcam. She called 911 after the rider got out, but Milwaukee police say they couldn’t locate the complainant. Now the driver is traumatized, questioning her safety and calling for stronger protections for rideshare drivers here.
   

• Braus, Darwich Connection Sparks Milwaukee Hockey Club Comeback Win (uwmpost.com) — Milwaukee hockey fans just saw their club roar back with a 5-4 shootout win over Aurora University, fueled by rookies Joshua Braus and Yamil Darwich. After Darwich’s long-awaited first ACHA goal and Peter Morrell’s hat trick, Braus buried the deciding shootout shot. The team now rides renewed momentum into a crucial January series that could clinch a league playoff berth.
