Extreme Heat And Humidity Returns To WI Thursday: Where To Cool Down
There are several cooling sites around greater Milwaukee for people without power or air conditioning to get a break from the heat.
WISCONSIN — Dangerously hot conditions are expected to return across much of Wisconsin into Thursday afternoon, increasing the chances of heat-related illness, according to the National Weather Service.
The extreme heat and humidity is expected to linger with maximum heat index values of around 110-115 in parts of south-central and southeast Wisconsin, forecasters said. An excessive heat warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The conditions may significantly increase the possibility of heat illnesses, especially for people working outside or doing outdoor activities, the NWS said. Forecasters encouraged people to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and stay in an air-conditioned vehicle.

Children and pets should never be left unattended in a vehicle under any circumstances and people should take extra precautions if they work or spend time outside. Forecasters said people may want to reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or the evening. Lightweight and loose clothing should be worn and outdoor workers should schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
People who are overcome by heat should be moved into a cool and shaded area and 911 should be contacted, forecasters advised.
