Hail Storms For Southeast WI + High Winds + Heat And Humidity

Severe thunderstorms will be possible along a cold front in southeast Wisconsin Wednesday afternoon and evening, national forecasters said.

MILWAUKEE, WI — While southeast Wisconsin deals with a second day of high heat and humidity, national forecasters predict another storm rolling in with chances of large hail and damaging winds Wednesday evening.

Storms will enter western Wisconsin from 4-6 p.m. and move east, rolling over the Lake Michigan shoreline between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m., the National Weather Service reported. Severe thunderstorms will be possible along a cold front over the Milwaukee area in the afternoon and evening.

Head indices close to 100 degrees are expected for much of southeast Wisconsin in the afternoon, forecasters said. Many cities in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Racine and Kenosha counties are under a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Risks during severe storms include tornadoes, large hail 2 inches or greater in diameter and damaging winds above 70 mph, forecasters said. In Milwaukee, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m.

Residents should keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water, close their shades and blinds, wear bright, lightweight clothing, avoid working outside during the hottest part of the day and check in on older adults to beat the heat, forecasters said.
