Milwaukee Brewers' Friday Opener Now Part Of Doubleheader

MILWAUKEE, WI — The Milwaukee Brewers' 2020 home opener, scheduled for Friday, was postponed, and will now be part of a doubleheader this weekend.
Team officials confirmed that Friday's game will be played Sunday at 1:10 p.m. League officials and the players union agreed to a new rule in which games played in doubleheaders will last seven innings. The new rule goes into effect Saturday.
Major League Baseball officials confirmed Friday morning that two members of the St. Louis Cardinals organization tested positive for the coronavirus.

"The health and safety of our fans, players, employees and game-day staff is our top priority," the Brewers said in a statement Friday morning. "We fully support the measures taken by Major League Baseball regarding the postponement of games and will continue to update our fans as we receive additional information."
The team was scheduled to play the Cardinals in a three-game weekend series, starting with a 1:10 p.m. game Friday. According to a JSOnline report, the team has been instructed to stay in its Milwaukee-area hotel and will not travel to Miller Park on Friday. MLB in a statement said the team would be subject to additional coronavirus testing.

According to beat reporter Jon Heyman, the Cardinals had a number of positive COVID-19 virus tests, forcing the postponement.
