Photos: Protests Take To Milwaukee Streets During First GOP Debate

Protests assembled outside as eight Republicans vying for a shot at the White House went head-to-head at Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum Wednesday.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Media from around the globe, scorching heat, protests and eight Republicans vying for a shot at the White House in 2024 all converged on Milwaukee Wednesday night for the first GOP presidential primary debate.

A heavy police presence surrounded the venue throughout the night alongside coach buses plastered with politician's names and media satellite trucks.

As the Republican candidates took the stage at Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum on Wednesday, protesters took to the streets to march around the convention center.

Demonstrations were apparent from both sides of the aisle throughout the evening. A small group of people apparently in support of former Republican President Donald Trump, and against current Democratic President Joe Biden, gathered along the south side of the Fiserv Forum ahead of the debate.

The largest of the demonstrations, organized by The Coalition to March on the RNC 2024, gathered at Milwaukee's Red Arrow Park blocks away from the venue before marching to the Fiserv Forum as the debate began around 8 p.m.
