5 CA Cities Among Top 25 Safest Cities For Trick-Or-Treating: Report
The Chamber of Commerce released its annual "Safest Cities for Trick-or-Treating" study in time for Halloween.

CARLSBAD, CA — Five cities in California ranked among the top 25 safest cities in the U.S. for trick-or-treating this Halloween, according to a new report.
The Chamber of Commerce released its annual "Safest Cities for Trick-or-Treating" study, ranking Irvine in Orange County as the safest city in California and the 10th safest city in the country for trick-or-treaters.
Elsewhere in the Golden State, Glendale in Los Angeles County ranked No. 12, Carlsbad in San Diego County ranked No. 18, Murrieta in Riverside County ranked No. 21, and Sunnyvale in Santa Clara County ranked No. 22.

These cities ranked among the safest cities because of the their low crime rates, high number of law enforcement employees and safe streets for pedestrians, according to the study.
The study analyzed key safety metrics across 300 cities, including pedestrian fatalities, property crime, violent crime, the number of law enforcement employees, and the number of registered sex offenders.

Naperville, Illinois, ranked as the safest city in the country for trick-or-treating, followed by Gilbert, Arizona, and Frisco, Texas, according to the report.
Here are the study highlights for the cities in California that make the list:
Irvine
- Number of registered sex offenders: 1.5 per 10,000
- Violent crime incidents: 4.9 per 10,000
- Property crime incidents: 144.1 per 10,000
- Average annual pedestrian fatalities: 0.05 per 10,000
- Law enforcement employees: 11.1 per 10,000
Glendale
- Number of registered sex offenders: 3.5 per 10,000
- Violent crime incidents: 10.5 per 10,000
- Property crime incidents: 162.7 per 10,000
- Average annual pedestrian fatalities: 0.13 per 10,000
- Law enforcement employees: 16.5 per 10,000
Carlsbad
- Number of registered sex offenders: 3.4 per 10,000
- Violent crime incidents: 18.3 per 10,000
- Property crime incidents: 180.2 per 10,000
- Average annual pedestrian fatalities: 0.05 per 10,000
- Law enforcement employees: 15.5 per 10,000
Murrieta
- Number of registered sex offenders: 6.9 per 10,000
- Violent crime incidents: 8.4 per 10,000
- Property crime incidents: 106.7 per 10,000
