Carlsbad Star Student Demands Excellence Of Himself
Jackson is a fierce athlete who "treats people with sympathy and understanding, and has a caring heart."

CARLSBAD, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission is for Jackson, finishing 8th Grade of Carlsbad.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Jackson is the hardest working young man I know. He leads his teammates both by his words and by his actions, and tries to set an example for everyone around him to follow. He is someone that everyone looks up to — both literally and figuratively — as he's always been a head taller than his peers. But his maturity is a major factor as well. He's a leader in school as part of his VMSTV broadcasting program, helps teach younger kids in the MagTV elementary school program, and was recently chosen as the youth speaker at the FCA Gala with Drew Brees, to talk about his journey as an athlete. All-in-all, an impressive young man with a bright future because of the excellence he demands of himself and everyone around him.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Jackson is a gentle giant. Except when he's boxing. Then, he's Muhammad Ali reincarnated. Or when he's battling for the ball in front of the water polo cage. Or when he's throwing elbows and ripping down rebounds for his basketball team. But as soon as the final whistle blows, he treats people with sympathy and understanding, and has a caring heart. And he leads his younger brother Nathan and younger sister Lucy with an example to follow--both in sports and in school.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Jackson!
